Post Op Lymphatic Massage or Manual Lymph Drainage

Manual Lymph Drainage Certification/Vodder Technique

Manual Lymph Drainage Certification/Vodder Technique

Manual Lymph Drainage aka MLD or Lymphatic Massage is a gentle, non-invasive technique that helps move the lymph through the lymphatic system. MLD can help assist the healing process post surgery and is prescribed by many physicians to help their client’s recovery.

It does matter who does your service! Lisa Troughton has finished an Advanced Certification  through the Academy of Lymphatic Studies. With over 70 hours of continued education in MLD and detailed instruction on how to work with many surgical procedures she is one of the few in the Hattiesburg area qualified to give Manual Lymph Drainage.

Why receive MLD?

How often should you receive MLD?

Both needed and unexpected surgeries are life changing events. Getting the pre and post care is vital for a speedy recovery.

How often should you receive MLD?

It is recommended to receive 2-3 MLD sessions per week as soon as 24-48 hours post procedure depending on what you have had done. One of the primary concerns health care professionals have is controlling the edema. Edema is inflammation that occurred either from direct result of injury or from the surgery itself. Managing the edema allows the body to heal faster and can prevent secondary injuries from occurring.

The edema that occures post surgery or injury is an abundance of interstitial fluid. This is fluid that needs to find its way back to the circulatory system. When surgeries are done, more specifically plastic surgery or lymph nodes removed, the normal route that fluid moves through the body can be obstructed.

We work regularly with clients after surgeries. It is normal for us to see, help and work with different situations a client may be in. Your comfort is our priority. We will not work directly on stitches or bandages and do not work directly with fluids outside of the body.
